Summary of Position
Akron Parks Collaborative is seeking a collaborative professional to oversee several of our major programs. The community engagement director will report to the Executive Director and will also work with key volunteers and board members. This is a full-time position. Day to day tasks include developing strategies for community engagement, refining program structure, coordinating groups, events and initiatives, and fostering relationships with neighborhood groups and partners to promote the revitalization of neighborhood parks in Akron.
Essential Duties
Support and grow the Akron Parks Challenge, the Park Friends Group program and the volunteer program. Responsibilities will include:
Akron Parks Challenge
Manage the application process
Support and communicate with applicants
Support and communicate with the APC Board in the selection process
Assist in marketing of the Akron Parks Challenge application process
Manage the community engagement process with the Akron Parks Challenge recipients and form a core team with the applicants
Oversee and direct the public life (observational) surveys for each park
Manage and present survey data
Park Friends Group program
Oversee the program including structure and communication
Support each of the 19 current groups in their annual budget and planning process and participate in meetings as needed
Support the formation of new Friends Groups
Manage the newly created Friends Group Steering Committee to organize city wide group gatherings
Volunteer Program
Oversee the program including structure and communication
Track and manage all volunteers and volunteer data
Other
APC social media & eNews content creation
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree (preferred)
Nonprofit experience and/or community organizing experience (2 years preferred)
Experience working collaboratively with other organizations and government agencies (preferred)
Skills in:
Verbal, written and interpersonal communication
Computer applications
Collaborative work
Data management
Content creation
Compensation:
$45,000 – $55,000 commensurate with experience
