Job Description
The Process Engineer supports manufacturing readiness for Siegwerk and or its customers; provides process equipment design including mechanical, electrical and control systems. Provides control hardware, software and programming as specifically directed for ink manufacturing. Adheres to all departmental/company policies and standards to include (but not limited to): (1) maintains a neat, clean and safe work area; (2) maintains regular and consistent attendance; and (3) maintains positive working relationships.
Job Responsibilities Maintains the readiness state of process equipment and control systems such as the batch server, downstream PLCs and associated networks to the best of one’s ability.
Will program new projects or make programming changes according to a written narrative or instruction from the engineering manager.
All panel building subcomponents such as power supplies, pilot air control, analog cards, temperature, pressure, level, flow devices must be understood.
Design/size/select/install/troubleshoots Variable Frequency Drives.
Acts as a Foreman/Project Manager to on site Electrical contractors. Will purchase or supply electrical components to the contractors or sub project as needed.
Design/build/program/Allen Bradley control PLC.
Trouble shoot plant or equipment down conditions quickly and consider outside resources if necessary. Works with Siegwerk Maintenance and Engineering departments.
Develops and adheres to project timelines to achieve Siegwerk targeted business goals.
Considers safety in design, work practices, and plant operations.
Provides technical support for other departments and customers as directed by the engineering manager.
Can provide electrical or mechanical engineering design help to the department.
Create and maintain documentation for processes, procedures and equipment.
Other duties as assigned.
Education And Experience BS in electrical, mechanical engineering is desired but other technical training will be considered.
Three to five or more years of demonstrated programming experience is required.
Experiencing with Allen Bradley PLC systems required.
Knowledge of the following: Control Logic PLC, RSVIEW, RSLYNX, RSBATCH, RSSQL, RSLOGIX, DEVICENET, REMOTE I/O, BATCH PC AND NETWORKS, VFD MOTOR DRIVES, TEMPERATURE, PRESSURE TRANSMITOR, WEIGH SCALES, LEVEL INDICATORS, FLOW METERS, POSITIONERS
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities Ability to read and comprehend technical manuals specific to methods or modes of control of the devices being programmed.
Ability to take newly obtained knowledge and turn into a successful operating system in a short period of time.
Demonstrated ability to perform project management from concept through installation and testing with some supervision.
Experience in Electrical engineering, Mechanical engineering along with ability in control panel design and fabrication for the process equipment.
Understanding of electrical codes for class 1 div 1 ratings is necessary.
Ability to learn the ink manufacturing process and how that relates to the PLC program is necessary.
Understands VFD programming/grounding/communications.
Demonstrated successful project completion with Allen Bradley control PLC.
Must be a self-starter, show initiative towards problem solving, and have an aptitude for working with others towards completing common goals.
Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work closely with others on projects.
Demonstrated ability with AutoCAD Electrical drawing package
Special Equipment/Working Condition Requirements Occasional overnight travel would be required for training or customer support if required. Weekly On Call Rotational Pool- available to respond to urgent issues outside of regular work hours.
